The UN Sustainable Development Goals

Blue-Action contributes to the UN sustainable development goals, specifically:

UN SDG 9 Build a resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Blue-Action contributes to the achievement of this UN SDG through an increased climate predictive capacity across the Arctic and northern hemisphere across timescales beyond seasons, allowing for planning and design of future infrastructure to be resilient and responsive to the future environment.

UN SDG 13 Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Blue-Action improves the ability of businesses, communities, NGOs, and policy-makers to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts by upskilling business, policymaking, and NGO communities to increase their capacity to understand and incorporate climate information into their decision-making processes.

UN SDG 14 Life below water

Blue-Action develops climate service products to foresee changes in the ocean, and their impacts on biological organisms, to predict the impacts of climate change and climate variability. Such forecasts can help to improve the management of fish stocks, improving both their sustainability and potentially increasing the yield that can be extracted, thereby supporting the ability of dependent communities, business and individuals to respond to climate change and climate variability.
